A Guide for Consequences

Consequences are the result or effect of some preceding behavior. They can be either positive (rewards) or negative (punishments). The purpose of a positive consequence is to increase the occurrence of a desired behavior. Conversely, the purpose of a negative consequence is to decrease the occurrence of an undesirable behavior. With these purposes in mind the following is a guide for setting consequences:
